Antonio Brown pleads guilty, gets probation in Miami shooting case

The former NFL receiver avoided prison time after a 2025 shooting outside a Miami celebrity boxing match.

Antonio Brown pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated assault with a firearm, a reduced charge from the second-degree attempted murder he originally faced after a May 2025 shooting outside a celebrity boxing match in Miami. A judge sentenced him to three years probation.

The terms bar Brown from possessing a firearm and require him to attend weekly counseling sessions. There is no prison time and no house arrest attached to the deal. If Brown meets all the conditions, his probation could wrap up in roughly 18 months, and the felony guilty plea would not appear on his official record.

The plea deal had reportedly been in the works since late September. Brown's attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, said his client had been facing up to 30 years in prison with a 20-year mandatory minimum before prosecutors offered the reduced charge. "Probation was too good to turn down, and we're both very excited about the outcome," Eiglarsh said.

The case closes out one of the more serious legal threats Brown has faced since his turbulent exit from the NFL, though the conditions of his probation mean his situation will stay under watch for the next year and a half.
