Sanders gets the nod and will make his first start of 2026.\n\nIt is at least one start for Sanders, who steps in as the Browns look to keep things moving at quarterback while Watson works through the league's protocol. No word yet on whether Watson will be available beyond this week, so Cleveland is taking it one game at a time behind its backup.\n\nFor now, the attention shifts to Sanders and how he handles his opportunity against New Orleans, with the Browns hoping for stability at the position until Watson is cleared to return.","published_at":"2026-11-06T22:50:22.005201+00:00","source_count":5,"written_from":[{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Browns to start Sanders at QB vs. Saints with Watson in protocol","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50400928/browns-start-shedeur-sanders-qb-vs-saints"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Shedeur Sanders named starter for Week 9","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/shedeur-sanders-named-starter-week-183604781.html"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Shedeur Sanders to start for the Browns","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/shedeur-sanders-to-start-for-the-browns"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Shedeur Sanders to start vs. Saints; Deshaun Watson to be listed as questionable","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7759716/2026/11/06/shedeur-sanders-start-browns-saints/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Doesn’t Know How To Conduct Himself’ — Jason Whitlock Rips Shedeur Sanders Over Controversial Press Conference Answer","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/doesn-t-know-conduct-himself-045007461.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘We’ve Got to Reconsider Some Stuff’ — Ex-NFL MVP Details the ‘Only Way’ Shedeur Sanders Could Start for Cleveland the Rest of the Season","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/ve-got-reconsider-stuff-ex-073044684.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Shedeur Sanders’ response to Browns questions sparks doubts over his NFL starting credentials","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/shedeur-sanders-response-browns-questions-081825849.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Shedeur Sanders likely starting","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/shedeur-sanders-likely-starting-154512955.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Browns' Shedeur Sanders to start vs. Saints as Deshaun Watson remains in concussion protocol","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/breaking-news/article/browns-shedeur-sanders-to-start-vs-saints-as-deshaun-watson-remains-in-concussion-protocol-182544696.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Deshaun Watson back at practice, Browns announce starting QB vs. Saints","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/deshaun-watson-back-practice-browns-183640747.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Shedeur Sanders to start for the Browns","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/shedeur-sanders-start-browns-183133454.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Browns Coach Sends Strong Message About Shedeur Sanders","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/browns-coach-sends-strong-message-193554910.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Browns’ Deshaun Watson finally returns to practice, but what does that mean for Shedeur Sanders?","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/browns-deshaun-watson-finally-returns-193138861.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Browns name starting QB for Week 9 game vs. Saints: Shedeur Sanders gets nod over Deshaun Watson","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/browns-name-starting-qb-week-9-saints-shedeur-sanders-deshaun-watson/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Sanders to start for Browns against Saints as Watson remains in concussion protocol","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/sanders-start-browns-against-saints-210750394.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Refuses to Address Personal Move","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/browns-qb-shedeur-sanders-refuses-221019499.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://nbcsports.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/e603d97/2147483647/strip/false/crop/1920x1080+0+0/resize/1920x1080!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhdliveextra-a.akamaihd.net%2FHD%2Fimage_sports%2FNBCU_Sports_Group_-_nbcsports%2F758%2F603%2Fnbc_pftpm_verse_261105.jpg","credit":"Pro Football Talk","width":1920},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
