Browns turn to Shedeur Sanders with Watson still in concussion protocol

Deshaun Watson will be listed as questionable for the game against the Saints as he remains in the concussion protocol.

The Browns are handing the keys to Shedeur Sanders for their matchup against the Saints, with Deshaun Watson sidelined by a concussion.

Watson remains in the concussion protocol and will be listed as questionable heading into the game, but Cleveland is not waiting around. Sanders gets the nod and will make his first start of 2026.

It is at least one start for Sanders, who steps in as the Browns look to keep things moving at quarterback while Watson works through the league's protocol. No word yet on whether Watson will be available beyond this week, so Cleveland is taking it one game at a time behind its backup.

For now, the attention shifts to Sanders and how he handles his opportunity against New Orleans, with the Browns hoping for stability at the position until Watson is cleared to return.
