The Knicks guard guest-starred as Detective Jay Madison alongside his longtime friend Mariska Hargitay, with his father and Knicks assistant coach Rick Brunson popping up in the same scene.
Jalen Brunson added a new credit to his resume on Thursday night, appearing as Detective Jay Madison in the latest episode of NBC's "Law & Order: SVU." The cameo capped off a friendship years in the making between the Knicks star and Mariska Hargitay, who has played Olivia Benson since the show's 1999 pilot and has long been a fixture at Madison Square Garden for Knicks games.
The scene opens with Rick Brunson, Jalen's father and a Knicks assistant coach, walking into a restaurant ahead of Hargitay in a brief, non-speaking appearance. Hargitay's Benson then congratulates Brunson's character on a recent promotion, to which he responds, "Focused on my goals. Gave it 110%. Things worked out." Brunson's character goes on to mention a case that could help Benson's current investigation.
The appearance follows Brunson's run to NBA Finals MVP as he led the Knicks to their first championship in over 50 years. Reports after that title suggested Brunson had hoped to cash in on the moment by landing a role on his friend's show, and this week that wish was granted with a speaking part alongside Hargitay herself.
