It is the highest-ranked win in Michigan program history and, by The Athletic's account, the biggest upset the Wolverines have ever pulled off.\n\nTe'Yala Delfosse led the way with a career-high 22 points, and Olivia Olson added 19. Michigan broke the game open with a 13-2 run early in the fourth quarter, a stretch good enough to force Hall of Fame coach Geno Auriemma into two timeouts trying to slow the bleeding. Neither stoppage worked, and the Wolverines closed it out at both ends of the floor.\n\nThe loss snaps a streak UConn had been riding since February 6, 2025, 39 straight regular-season wins. Huskies star Sarah Strong, the reigning AP Player of the Year, fouled out with 13 points after a rough stretch that saw her draw three fouls during a scoreless first half.\n\nThe win instantly becomes a signature moment for Michigan, which had never beaten a team ranked this high before Thursday.","published_at":"2026-11-06T23:35:32.075124+00:00","source_count":3,"written_from":[{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"No. 5 Michigan takes down No. 2 UConn in program's highest-ranked win ever","url":"https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/50395020/no-5-michigan-halts-no-2-uconn-win-streak-top-five-clash"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Delfosse scores career-high 22 points, No. 5 Michigan beats No. 2 UConn 77-66 to end Huskies’ streak","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/delfosse-scores-career-high-22-021521587.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"No. 2 UConn women's basketball suffers upset defeat at No. 5 Michigan","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7757837/2026/11/05/michigan-uconn-upset-womens-basketball/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"No. 5 Michigan stuns No. 2 UConn in women's basketball upset","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/no-5-michigan-stuns-no-014016725.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Takeaways from No. 5 Michigan’s statement win over No. 2 UConn","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/takeaways-no-5-michigan-statement-012828139.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"No. 5 Michigan defeats No. 2 UConn in women's basketball 77-66, powered by Te'Yala Delfosse's 22 points","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/womens-college-basketball/article/no-5-michigan-defeats-no-2-uconn-in-womens-basketball-77-66-powered-by-teyala-delfosses-22-points-013153621.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"No. 2 UConn women’s basketball suffers upset defeat at No. 5 Michigan","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/no-2-uconn-women-basketball-014607637.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Delfosse scores career-high 22 points, No. 5 Michigan beats No. 2 UConn 77-66 to end Huskies' streak","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/delfosse-scores-career-high-22-015810964.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"No. 5 Michigan makes statement, takes down No. 2 UConn women's basketball team","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/no-5-michigan-makes-statement-015652400.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"No. 2 UConn falls at No. 5 Michigan, 77-66","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/no-2-uconn-falls-no-031559326.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"No. 5 Michigan tops No. 2 UConn and coach Kim Barnes Arico ends another Geno Auriemma winning streak","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/no-5-michigan-tops-no-032325053.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"No. 5 Michigan tops No. 2 UConn and coach Kim Barnes Arico ends another Geno Auriemma winning streak","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/no-5-michigan-tops-no-041359070.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Michigan basketball readies for NCAA title game rematch vs UConn","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/michigan-basketball-readies-ncaa-title-100722677.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Michigan basketball readies for NCAA title game rematch vs UConn","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/michigan-basketball-readies-ncaa-title-100722656.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"How to watch, stream UConn men’s basketball vs. Michigan Friday","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/watch-stream-uconn-men-basketball-181236686.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"UConn men's basketball vs Michigan | Live updates","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/uconn-mens-basketball-vs-michigan-230119534.html"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
