Te'Yala Delfosse scored a career-high 22 points as the Wolverines pulled off the biggest upset in program history.
No. 5 Michigan knocked off No. 2 UConn 77-66 on Thursday night at Crisler Center, the first-ever regular-season matchup between top-five women's basketball teams in the AP Top 25. It is the highest-ranked win in Michigan program history and, by The Athletic's account, the biggest upset the Wolverines have ever pulled off.
Te'Yala Delfosse led the way with a career-high 22 points, and Olivia Olson added 19. Michigan broke the game open with a 13-2 run early in the fourth quarter, a stretch good enough to force Hall of Fame coach Geno Auriemma into two timeouts trying to slow the bleeding. Neither stoppage worked, and the Wolverines closed it out at both ends of the floor.
The loss snaps a streak UConn had been riding since February 6, 2025, 39 straight regular-season wins. Huskies star Sarah Strong, the reigning AP Player of the Year, fouled out with 13 points after a rough stretch that saw her draw three fouls during a scoreless first half.
The win instantly becomes a signature moment for Michigan, which had never beaten a team ranked this high before Thursday.
