Bill Belichick joins Tom Coughlin, Mike Holmgren, Dan Reeves and Mike Shanahan as the five coach candidates for the 2027 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.
Bill Belichick did not get the votes needed to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame's 2026 class, but he is already back in the mix for 2027. He is one of five coaches still in the selection process for the next class, alongside Tom Coughlin, Mike Holmgren, Dan Reeves and Mike Shanahan.
The group represents a stretch of NFL coaching history that includes multiple Super Bowl winners and two men closely tied to the Broncos. Reeves and Shanahan both built their reputations in Denver before moving on to other stops, and their inclusion together highlights how much of that franchise's success is wrapped up in this ballot.
Belichick's case is obvious on paper given his championship record, but the Hall's coach category tends to move slowly, with only a handful of finalists reaching enshrinement each cycle. For now, he remains a candidate rather than an inductee, with Coughlin, Holmgren, Reeves and Shanahan all competing for the same limited space.
The Hall of Fame has not yet named which, if any, of these five will advance further toward the Class of 2027.
