The slip surfaced after a hot mic caught Jessica Pegula calling Mirra Andreeva a \"diva\" during what she and coach Mark Knowles believed was a private conversation.\n\nAccording to The Athletic, the session was actually being streamed on the WTA Tour's YouTube channel. In the exchange, Pegula said she had \"lost a little respect\" for Conchita Martinez, the 1994 Wimbledon champion who now coaches Andreeva, accusing her of poking at Andreeva and egging on her behavior. \"I think she's a nice girl; she's just a diva. She needs to be humbled,\" Pegula said of the 19-year-old French Open champion.\n\nThe WTA's apology addressed the organization's failure to inform participants that the courts were mic'd up, rather than the content of Pegula's comments themselves. The episode has drawn attention to how much locker-room candor gets picked up once cameras and microphones are rolling at tour events.","published_at":"2026-11-06T23:35:32.075124+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"WTA apologizes after Jessica Pegula caught on hot mic calling Mirra Andreeva a ‘diva’ on livestream","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/tennis/wta-apologizes-jessica-pegula-caught-hot-mic-mirra-andreeva-diva-livestream.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"WTA apologizes after Jessica Pegula caught on hot mic calling Mirra Andreeva a ‘diva’ on livestream","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/wta-apologizes-jessica-pegula-caught-133006277.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"How a hot mic at the WTA Finals caught Jessica Pegula calling Mirra Andreeva a 'diva'","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7756165/2026/11/05/wta-finals-pegula-andreeva-gauff-hot-mic-practice/"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Jessica Pegula caught on hot mic eviscerating ‘diva’ Mirra Andreeva","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/11/05/sports/jessica-pegula-caught-on-hot-mic-eviscerating-diva-mirra-andreeva/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Jessica Pegula’s hot mic comments about Mirra Andreeva add more spice to 2026 WTA Finals","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jessica-pegula-hot-mic-comments-020124071.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Jessica Pegula Caught in Video Recording Shading Coco Gauff and Mirra Andreeva","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jessica-pegula-caught-video-recording-053155923.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"The WTA wipes all footage of the WTA Finals practice sessions after Jessica Pegula incident","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/wta-wipes-footage-wta-finals-080000378.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Pegula calls Andreeva 'diva' after practice session","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/pegula-calls-andreeva-diva-practice-141258259.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"WTA Takes ‘Full Responsibility’ for Jessica Pegula’s Hot-Mic Comments","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/wta-takes-full-responsibility-jessica-170348229.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Why Jessica Pegula’s current predicament is unfair and she deserves little criticism","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/why-jessica-pegula-current-predicament-180000855.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"WTA apologizes after hot mic caught Jessica Pegula calling Mirra Andreeva a 'diva' during practice session","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/tennis/breaking-news/article/wta-apologizes-after-hot-mic-caught-jessica-pegula-calling-mirra-andreeva-a-diva-during-practice-session-181020053.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Jessica Pegula Takes Action After Calling Mirra Andreeva ‘Diva’ on Hot Mic","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jessica-pegula-takes-action-calling-053931872.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"WTA steps in after Jessica Pegula caught calling Mirra Andreeva a ‘diva’ in live stream","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/wta-steps-jessica-pegula-caught-082650524.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"The Jessica Pegula hot mic moment should never have happened.
