Watson needs shoulder surgery, and Josh Wallace and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. are set to take over at outside cornerback.
Jaylen Watson's season is over. Rams coach Sean McVay confirmed the cornerback will undergo surgery on an injured shoulder, ending his year before it can go any further.
Watson had established himself as a starting outside cornerback for Los Angeles, and his absence leaves a real hole in the secondary. The Rams now turn to Josh Wallace and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. to fill the gap at that spot.
There is no timetable given for Watson's recovery beyond the fact that his season is done. For a Rams defense that had leaned on him outside, the next several weeks become an audition for depth players who were not expecting this much responsibility this early.
