Dianna Russini set to return to sports media next week

The former Athletic NFL insider has been telling league contacts she'll be back on the job, though it's unclear where or in what role.

Dianna Russini is apparently ready to get back to work. According to a report from Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk, a source with knowledge of the situation says Russini has started telling people around the league that she'll return to sports media "next week." It is not yet clear which outlet she'll join or what her new role will be.

Russini resigned from The Athletic in April, one week after the New York Post published photos showing her in what appeared to be an intimate relationship with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel at a resort in Arizona. In both her comments to the Post and her resignation letter to The Athletic, Russini denied any impropriety.

The Athletic later conducted a review of her work, with findings released in early September concluding that her relationship with Vrabel violated the outlet's standards.

Her return comes as the NFL season hits its halfway point this weekend, putting her back in the mix right as the league heads into its second half.
