The Colts coach made clear that, for now, Taylor is still their running back and will keep his usual role in the offense.\n\nSteichen's comments come as trade buzz around Taylor has intensified, with several teams reportedly involved in discussions. Despite the uncertainty hanging over the situation, Steichen framed it simply: Taylor is on the Colts' football team, and he wants to win the game in front of him.\n\nIt is a pointed response to any notion that a player at the center of trade rumors might get phased out or treated differently in practice or game plans. Steichen's message suggests the Colts intend to use Taylor as normal unless and until a deal actually happens.\n\nFor Taylor, it means business as usual heading into the game, regardless of how much noise surrounds his name elsewhere in the league. The situation remains fluid, with the trade buzz unresolved and Taylor still active in the Colts' plans.","published_at":"2026-11-04T23:33:22.238429+00:00","source_count":3,"written_from":[{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Steichen defends Taylor usage, says RB will keep usual role despite trade buzz","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50381853/shane-steichen-defends-colts-jonathan-taylor-usage-trade"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Shane Steichen: Jonathan Taylor is on our football team, wants to win this game","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/shane-steichen-jonathan-taylor-football-180116138.html"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Shane Steichen: Jonathan Taylor is on our football team, wants to win this game","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/shane-steichen-jonathan-taylor-is-on-our-football-team-wants-to-win-this-game"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Colts are not planning to rest Jonathan Taylor or limit his workload as trade rumors swirl","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/colts-not-planning-rest-jonathan-230400691.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://nbcsports.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/772c578/2147483647/strip/false/crop/1920x1080+0+0/resize/1920x1080!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhdliveextra-a.akamaihd.net%2FHD%2Fimage_sports%2FNBCU_Sports_Group_-_nbcsports%2F462%2F707%2Fnbc_pft_indianajones_261103.jpg","credit":"Pro Football Talk","width":1920},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
