The group includes Patriots owner Robert Kraft, former Super Bowl MVP Doug Williams, late Bears owner Virginia McCaskey, longtime NFL player, scout and personnel executive John Wooten, and former Canton Bulldogs owner Ralph Hay.\n\nWilliams was the MVP of Super Bowl 22 and the first Black quarterback to start in a Super Bowl. His nomination here comes in the contributor category rather than as a player.\n\nMembers of the Hall's contributor subcommittee narrowed the list down from an original field of 42 nominees. That subcommittee will now select a single candidate to be considered when the Hall's full selection committee meets to determine the new class of enshrinees in early 2027.\n\nThe eventual contributor finalist will join a class that also includes one coach and 13 players, continuing the Hall's standard format for enshrinement rounds. No further timeline for narrowing the contributor field was given beyond the subcommittee's pending decision.","published_at":"2026-11-04T22:35:37.438718+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Robert Kraft, Doug Williams among five Contributor nominees advancing in Hall of Fame selection process","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/robert-kraft-doug-williams-among-five-contributor-nominees-advancing-in-hall-of-fame-process"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Doug Williams, Robert Kraft among 5 Hall of Fame contributor candidates","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50379976/doug-williams-kraft-5-hof-contributor-candidates"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Doug Williams and Robert Kraft are among 5 contributor candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/doug-williams-robert-kraft-among-171903652.html"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Robert Kraft, Doug Williams among five Contributor nominees advancing in Hall of Fame selection process","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/robert-kraft-doug-williams-among-184130336.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Robert Kraft named one of five contributor nominees for 2027 Pro Football Hall of Fame class","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2027-football-hall-of-fame-nominees-robert-kraft/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Robert Kraft among contributor nominees for Pro Football Hall of Fame class 2027","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/robert-kraft-among-contributor-nominees-201431378.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Doug Williams a contributor nominee for 2027 Hall of Fame class","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/doug-williams-contributor-nominee-2027-210046138.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Robert Kraft Announced as Hall Of Fame Finalist","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/robert-kraft-announced-hall-fame-210733664.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://nbcsports.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/57bf29c/2147483647/strip/false/crop/1920x1080+0+0/resize/1920x1080!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhdliveextra-a.akamaihd.net%2FHD%2Fimage_sports%2FNBCU_Sports_Group_-_nbcsports%2F466%2F111%2Fresized.jpg","credit":"Pro Football Talk","width":1920},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
