That does not mean he is the favorite to actually get the job.\n\nMarchand writes that ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro will likely call Manning directly to pitch him on pairing up with Joe Buck. There is a convenient real estate angle here too: Buck recently made Denver his primary residence, putting him about five minutes from Manning, which would make for an easy carpool if this all comes together.\n\nDespite being the top choice, Marchand stops short of calling Manning the favorite for the gig, with Greg Olsen believed to be the more likely option to land the role.\n\nFor now, ESPN's search continues, with Pitaro expected to make his pitch to Manning while the network weighs whether its preferred candidate is actually a realistic one.","published_at":"2026-11-03T23:33:12.288917+00:00","source_count":3,"written_from":[{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Why ESPN will have trouble landing Peyton Manning to replace Troy Aikman on ‘MNF’","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/11/03/sports/why-espn-will-have-trouble-landing-peyton-manning-to-replace-troy-aikman-on-mnf/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Report: Peyton Manning is ESPN’s top choice to replace Troy Aikman, but Greg Olsen believed to be most likely option","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/report-peyton-manning-espn-top-213024455.html"},{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"Report: Peyton Manning is ESPN’s top choice to replace Troy Aikman, but Greg Olsen believed to be most likely option","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/andrew-marchand-believes-peyton-manning-is-espns-no-1-choice-to-replace-troy-aikman-but-greg-olsen-is-sort-of-the-favorite.html"}],"more_coverage":[],"image":{"url":"https://nypost.com/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2026%2F11%2Fpeyton-manning-attends-red-carpet-144293313.jpg?w%3D1024","credit":"New York Post","width":5682},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
