The Giants and the 26-year-old cornerback have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $46 million, including $32 million guaranteed, according to his agency.\n\nIt's a quick turnaround for a player who only joined the Giants this offseason on a one-year, $8 million deal. Newsome, a former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2021, had been set to hit unrestricted free agency next offseason before GM Joe Schoen moved to keep him in the fold through 2029.\n\nThe extension comes after Newsome won a starting job in a Giants secondary that had plenty of question marks heading into the season under head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. He's finally playing like the highly rated prospect he was coming out of college, with quarterbacks posting a passer rating of just 61.4 when targeting receivers he's covering.\n\nThe deal effectively rewards six games of strong performance with long-term security, a bet by the Giants that what they've seen so far from Newsome is sustainable rather than a hot start.","published_at":"2026-11-03T22:20:02.142376+00:00","source_count":6,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Giants, CB Greg Newsome II agree to three-year contract extension worth $46 million","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/giants-cb-greg-newsome-ii-213317304.html"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Giants reward corner Greg Newsome II with $46 million contract extension","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/11/03/sports/giants-reward-greg-newsome-ii-with-46-million-contract-extension/"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Giants, cornerback Greg Newsome II agree to 3-year, $46 million extension: Source","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7751460/2026/11/03/new-york-giants-greg-newsome-extension/"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Greg Newsome, Giants agree on three-year extension","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/greg-newsome-giants-agree-on-three-year-extension"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Giants to sign ex-Browns, Jaguars star CB to $46 million extension","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/giants-sign-ex-browns-jaguars-212740701.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Greg Newsome, Giants agree on three-year extension","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/greg-newsome-giants-agree-three-212543024.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Giants give veteran cornerback 3-year contract extension","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/giants-veteran-cornerback-3-contract-213831651.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Giants sign Greg Newsome to three-year, $46 million extension, per report","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/giants-sign-greg-newsome-three-year-46-million-extension/"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Giants, CB Newsome agree to 3-year, $46M extension","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50372281/giants-cb-greg-newsome-ii-agree-3-year-46m-extension"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Giants sign cornerback Greg Newsome to a 3-year contract extension, AP source says","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/giants-sign-cornerback-greg-newsome-220850049.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://nypost.com/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2026%2F11%2F20-new-york-giants-reacts-143791755.jpg?w%3D1024","credit":"New York Post","width":4500},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
