It marked the third time in his last four games that Durant attempted fewer than 10 field goals, with Houston winning all three of those games decisively to push its record to 7-1.\n\nThe modest shot total became the focus of his postgame press conference. Durant had been talking about the offensive variety that has let everyone on the roster get involved early in the season, when the Houston Chronicle's Varun Shankar followed up by asking about that variety and his own lack of shot attempts.\n\nDurant did not take it well, asking Shankar why his shot total mattered to him and why he was being singled out. The exchange quickly made the rounds given Durant's reputation as one of the NBA's great scorers and his history of pushing back on criticism, even when, as now, his team is winning comfortably without him needing to shoot much.","published_at":"2026-11-03T22:20:02.142376+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"Kevin Durant snaps at reporter for questioning shot attempts: ‘Why are you singling me out?’","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/nba/kevin-durant-reporter-shot-attempts.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Kevin Durant grills reporter who asks about Rockets offensive variety","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/kevin-durant-grills-reporter-asks-163202486.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Kevin Durant feels singled out as reporter questions his scoring, shooting drop","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7750525/2026/11/03/rockets-kevin-durant-shooting-scoring-drop-reporter/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Rockets’ Kevin Durant calls out reporter for ‘singling’ out his stats vs. Celtics","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rockets-kevin-durant-calls-reporter-070506101.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Kevin Durant gets into heated exchange with reporter after Houston win","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/kevin-durant-gets-heated-exchange-142500626.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"'Why are you singling me out?': Kevin Durant gets into tense exchange with reporter","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/why-singling-kevin-durant-gets-160051854.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Kevin Durant snaps at reporter for questioning shot attempts: ‘Why are you singling me out?’","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/kevin-durant-snaps-reporter-questioning-210014053.html"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Kevin Durant calls out reporter in uncomfortable exchange: ‘Why does that matter?’","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/11/03/sports/kevin-durant-calls-out-reporter-in-uncomfortable-exchange/"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
