Spire Motorsports announced the move Tuesday, citing an on-track incident from last week's race at Martinsville, where Hocevar brake-checked Austin Cindric multiple times, including on the straightaways.\n\nSpire co-owner Jeff Dickerson said in a statement that the organization chose to act internally instead of waiting on NASCAR to hand down its own penalty. Dickerson described the decision as a complicated one with ripple effects across the team, noting that letting NASCAR decide the punishment would have been the simpler path.\n\nThe suspension ends Hocevar's otherwise breakout 2026 Cup Series season on a sour note, keeping him out of the 1.5-mile Homestead oval for the year's final race. No word yet on who will drive the car in his place or whether any further penalty is coming from NASCAR itself.","published_at":"2026-11-03T22:20:02.142376+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Carson Hocevar Suspended From Homestead Race by Spire Motorsports","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/carson-hocevar-suspended-homestead-race-190134834.html"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Spire suspends Hocevar for NASCAR's Cup finale at Homestead","url":"https://www.espn.com/racing/nascar/story/_/id/50370734/spire-suspends-carson-hocevar-cup-finale-homestead"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Carson Hocevar's team suspends him for NASCAR Cup finale for on-track incident","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7750953/2026/11/03/carson-hocevar-suspended-nascar-cup-series-finale-spire/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Carson Hocevar Suspended for NASCAR Season Finale After Martinsville Controversy","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/carson-hocevar-suspended-nascar-season-190240987.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Spire Just Pulled Off a PR Masterstroke With Carson Hocevar’s Homestead Suspension","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/spire-just-pulled-off-pr-191234110.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Spire Motorsports suspends NASCAR driver Carson Hocevar for finale following racing incidents","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/spire-motorsports-suspends-nascar-driver-191757954.html"},{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"Spire Motorsports Suspends Carson Hocevar For Martinsville Antics","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nascar/spire-motorsports-suspends-carson-hocevar-embarrassing-day"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Spire Motorsports suspends Carson Hocevar for NASCAR Cup Series finale following racing incidents","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/spire-motorsports-suspends-carson-hocevar-194528115.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Carson Hocevar suspended by Spire for NASCAR finale at Homestead-Miami","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/carson-hocevar-suspended-spire-nascar-202844015.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"NASCAR star Carson Hocevar suspended by team for Martinsville incident","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/nascar-star-carson-hocevar-suspended-204635996.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Carson Hocevar Suspended by Spire Motorsports For NASCAR Cup Finale at Homestead","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/carson-hocevar-suspended-spire-motorsports-214440968.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Carson Hocevar Suspended After Martinsville Controversy","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/carson-hocevar-suspended-martinsville-controversy-220316484.html"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
