The newly traded defensive tackle led Chicago in tackles as the Bears improved to 6-2 and handed Seattle its second straight home loss.
Jeffery Simmons needed exactly one game to justify the price tag. Four days after Chicago shipped two first-round picks to Tennessee for him, Simmons led the Bears with six tackles, added a sack, a pass defensed and two tackles for loss as Chicago throttled Seattle 34-17 on Monday Night Football.
The Bears offense did its part too, opening with an 80-yard, 17-play drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Williams. Chicago's defense held the Seahawks to 252 total yards and forced a turnover when Sam Darnold's tipped pass, deflected by Austin Booker, was intercepted by James Lynch and returned 16 yards to the Seattle 6. Darnold was sacked three times on the night.
Seattle did itself no favors, piling up three unnecessary roughness penalties in the second half, two of them on special teams. Kicker Jason Myers missed an extra point and had a 33-yard field goal blocked.
The win pushes Chicago to 6-2, within a half-game of the first-place Vikings in the NFC North. The defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks fall to 4-4, dropping into a tie with the Rams for second in the NFC West behind San Francisco.
