Rhule said the man walked up to his daughter and told her \"F*** U and F*** your dad.\"\n\nThe incident came after Nebraska fell 17-10 to Washington, its third straight loss following a 5-0 start to the season. The Cornhuskers have since dropped games to Indiana, Oregon and Washington, with the last three losses coming by a combined 13 points. Rhule spoke uninterrupted for 19 minutes before taking questions, using the time to break down what went wrong against Washington and to credit offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen and quarterback Anthony Colandrea for their effort.\n\nBut it was the treatment of his daughter that clearly affected him most. Rhule said he is not going to keep coaching if it means his family has to endure that kind of abuse, framing it as a line he is not willing to cross regardless of the pressure building around his seat at Nebraska.","published_at":"2026-11-03T23:33:12.288917+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"Matt Rhule reveals Nebraska fan verbally attacked his daughter","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/college-football/matt-rhule-reveals-nebraska-fan-verbally-attacked-his-daughter.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Attacked my daughter’ – Nebraska HC Matt Rhule drops heartbreaking reason behind potential retirement","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/attacked-daughter-nebraska-hc-matt-114000382.html"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Matt Rhule draws line after saying Nebraska fan cursed at 13-year-old daughter after loss","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/11/02/sports/matt-rhule-draws-line-after-saying-nebraska-fan-cursed-at-13-year-old-daughter-after-loss/"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Matt Rhule says Nebraska fan verbally accosted his 13-year-old daughter","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7748221/2026/11/02/matt-rhule-daughter-nebraska-football/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Matt Rhule reveals Nebraska fan cussed out his 13-year-old daughter after Washington loss","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/matt-rhule-reveals-nebraska-fan-193549633.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Matt Rhule said a Nebraska fan yelled at his 13-year-old daughter after latest loss: ‘I’m not quitting’","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/article/matt-rhule-said-a-nebraska-fan-yelled-at-his-13-year-old-daughter-after-latest-loss-im-not-quitting-223546659.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Nebraska HC Matt Rhule shares disturbing fan encounter involving daughter after Washington loss","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/nebraska-hc-matt-rhule-shares-230934901.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Absolutely Ridiculous,’ ‘That’s Messed Up,’ ‘Gross’ — Outrage Erupts As Matt Rhule’s 13-Year-Old Daughter Gets Cursed Out by Fan","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/absolutely-ridiculous-messed-gross-outrage-193635991.html"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
