Coach Sean McVay announced Monday that the team is opening Garrett's 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve.\n\nGarrett, who won the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year award last season with Cleveland before joining the Rams in a blockbuster trade last June, hasn't played since Week 1 after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in mid-September.\n\nMcVay declined to put a timeline on when the 30-year-old pass rusher might actually suit up again. \"I want to be careful to not even set any sort of expectations,\" McVay said. \"I think just taking it a day at a time is going to be the best way that we can\" approach it.\n\nThe Rams, now 4-4, have won two straight games for the first time this season and head to Washington next Sunday. A decision on Garrett's Week 9 status is expected later this week.","published_at":"2026-11-02T23:51:08.546996+00:00","source_count":5,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Myles Garrett is returning to Rams practice after 7-game absence because of knee injury","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/myles-garrett-returning-rams-practice-231127859.html"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Rams to welcome Garrett back to practice this week, McVay says","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50361646/garrett-return-practice-week-rams-mcvay-says"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Rams get massive boost as Myles Garrett’s long-awaited return draws near","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/11/02/sports/myles-garrett-returning-to-rams-practice-as-sean-mcvay-delivers-huge-injury-update-ahead-of-commanders-game/"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Rams to open Myles Garrett's practice window after missing 7 games with knee injury","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7729511/2026/11/02/rams-myles-garrett-return-practice-injury/"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Myles Garrett will practice this week","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/myles-garrett-will-practice-this-week"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Rams’ optimism growing for Myles Garrett’s return","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rams-optimism-growing-myles-garrett-135900049.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Rams OLB Myles Garrett will return to practice this week","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rams-olb-myles-garrett-return-221346483.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Myles Garrett will practice this week","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/myles-garrett-practice-week-222705644.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Rams finally share good news about Myles Garrett","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rams-finally-share-good-news-224250396.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Myles Garrett returning to Rams practice, but it's unclear when he'll play","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/myles-garrett-returning-rams-practice-233927082.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Sean McVay reveals newest Myles Garrett injury update ahead of Week 9","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/sean-mcvay-reveals-newest-myles-001656090.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"The Rams' defense is improving even without Myles Garrett, and now he's coming back from injury","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rams-defense-improving-even-without-003641543.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"When will Myles Garrett return?
