Cardinals hand starting job to Minshew after comeback win

The veteran takes over at quarterback beginning Sunday at Seattle after a strong Week 8 outing against the Cowboys.

Gardner Minshew is the Cardinals' new starting quarterback. The move comes after the 30-year-old delivered a nearly flawless Week 8 performance that keyed a comeback win over the Cowboys in overtime.

Coaches reportedly had little choice but to make the change after watching Minshew's outing. He'll get the start beginning Sunday when Arizona travels to face Seattle.

There's no word yet on how long Minshew holds the job or what happens once the previous starter is healthy or available again, but for now the Cardinals are moving forward with him under center. The performance against Dallas, capped by the overtime rally, was enough to settle the question of who leads the offense going forward.
