Thunder to retire Russell Westbrook's No. 0 in February

The ceremony is set for a February 7 home game against New York, honoring the 11 seasons Westbrook spent with the franchise.

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced Monday they will retire Russell Westbrook's No. 0 jersey at a February 7 home game against New York. Westbrook, 37, retired in August after an 18-season NBA career, finishing as the league's all-time leader in triple doubles with 209.

Westbrook spent the first 11 of those seasons in Oklahoma City, from 2008 to 2019, before moving on to Houston, Washington, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver and Sacramento. He won the NBA Most Valuable Player award in 2017 with the Thunder and led the franchise to nine playoff appearances, including four Western Conference finals trips and a run to the 2012 NBA Finals, where Oklahoma City fell to Miami.

Westbrook will become just the second player to have his number retired by the Thunder, joining Nick Collison, whose No. 4 already hangs with the franchise. The Thunder called the honor a point of pride for the organization as it prepares to celebrate one of the defining players in its history.
