His previous deal had been due to expire in the summer of 2027, and before that was reported to be set to expire at the end of this season, so the new terms mark a significant extension of his stay at the club.\n\nThe agreement reportedly puts Arteta on track to become the highest paid manager in the Premier League. His current salary had been £10m per year, and the new contract includes an increase on that figure plus an additional £5m in bonuses. In explaining his benchmark, Arteta had pointed to figures paid to Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone and former Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, both reportedly earning over £20m per year.\n\nArteta arrived at Arsenal in December 2019, and the new deal could stretch his tenure close to a decade. It also puts him on track to become the third-longest serving manager in the club's history, following Arsenal's first league title in 22 years. Arteta called the club \"unique\" and said this is \"only the beginning\" of its success.","published_at":"2026-10-08T20:29:03.514505+00:00","source_count":3,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Arteta signs new contract with champions Arsenal","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/arteta-signs-contract-champions-arsenal-110913096.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Mikel Arteta signs Arsenal extension to 2030 in deal to make him highest paid Premier League manager","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/mikel-arteta-arsenal-extension-2030-highest-paid-premier-league-manager/"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Mikel Arteta extends Arsenal contract until 2030","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7622663/2026/10/07/mikel-arteta-arsenal-contract-new-announced/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"🚨 BREAKING: Mikel Arteta signs new Arsenal deal until 2030","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/breaking-mikel-arteta-signs-arsenal-110500384.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Arsenal confirm new Mikel Arteta contract","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/arsenal-confirm-mikel-arteta-contract-111500325.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Mikel Arteta signs new Arsenal deal until 2030","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/mikel-arteta-signs-arsenal-deal-111833778.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Mikel Arteta signs improved contract to lead Arsenal into new era","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/mikel-arteta-signs-improved-contract-111244562.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Only the beginning of what we can achieve’ – Arteta signs new Arsenal deal","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/only-beginning-achieve-arteta-signs-111500536.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Arteta signs new Arsenal deal until 2030","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/arteta-signs-arsenal-deal-until-113709416.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Arteta signs new contract at Arsenal to 2030 after leading club to Premier League title","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/arteta-signs-contract-arsenal-2030-112722308.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Inside Mikel Arteta’s new Arsenal contract: Title-season talks, summer pause, Garlick, Berta roles","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7665637/2026/10/07/inside-mikel-arteta-arsenal-contract/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Mikel Arteta's promise to Arsenal fans after signing new long-term contract","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/mikel-artetas-promise-arsenal-fans-202100758.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Mikel Arteta opens up on signing new Arsenal contract after Premier League title win","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/mikel-arteta-opens-signing-arsenal-213209598.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"“It’s a privilege” Arteta delighted to pen new long-term Arsenal deal","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/privilege-arteta-delighted-pen-long-080000482.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"New Arsenal deal makes Arteta best paid Premier League manager","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/arsenal-deal-makes-arteta-best-100500099.html"}],"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
