Jets blow nine-point lead, fall to Raiders 38-33

Minkah Fitzpatrick summed up the collapse simply as "Jets being Jets."

The Jets led the Raiders by nine points with under nine minutes left in the third quarter on Sunday, and then did the thing Jets teams do. Las Vegas outscored them 17-3 the rest of the way to snap its own four-game losing streak and send New York home with another late collapse to explain.

Minkah Fitzpatrick did not sugarcoat it afterward, calling the defensive breakdown "Jets being Jets." It is the kind of phrase that tells you everything about how often this team has been here before, watching a lead evaporate against an opponent that badly needed the win more than they did.

The final score, 38-33, puts this squarely in the one-score loss column that has become a theme for New York. Whatever was working through the first two and a half quarters stopped working exactly when it mattered, and the Raiders made them pay for it.

No word yet on what changes, if any, the Jets plan to make on defense heading into their next game.
