The 6th overall pick in 2025 was supposed to anchor the Raiders' ground game while the team sorted out its quarterback situation, but midway through his second season he has become a bystander in his own offense.\n\nSunday against the Jets made it obvious. Las Vegas ran the ball 28 times in the game, yet Jeanty touched it just twice, for nine yards. The decline has been steady and well documented: 23 carries in the season opener, down to 10 by October 11, and now a mere two. Coaches have brushed off questions about his shrinking workload, but the numbers tell their own story.\n\nThe timing stings given Jeanty spent the week talking trash about New York's defense, saying the Jets \"don't really want to tackle.\" That comment drew a pointed response from ESPN's Rex Ryan, who broke down film on Sunday NFL Countdown and called Jeanty's physicality into question before the game even kicked off. Jeanty did not back up the talk on the field, finishing as an afterthought while the Raiders' offense moved the ball well without him.","published_at":"2026-11-02T23:20:46.962309+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Ashton Jeanty is on the bust-train to trades-ville","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/ashton-jeanty-bust-train-trades-153900176.html"},{"outlet":"SB Nation","publisher":"SB Nation","title":"Ashton Jeanty is on the bust-train to trades-ville","url":"https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/1134702/ashton-jeanty-bust-nfl-draft-las-vegas-raiders-snaps-trade"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Ashton Jeanty doesn’t back up trash talk in Raiders win over Jets","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/11/01/sports/ashton-jeanty-doesnt-back-up-trash-talk-in-raiders-win-over-jets/"},{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"Rex Ryan shreds Raiders’ Ashton Jeanty for comments on Jets’ defense: ‘You are horrible’","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/rex-ryan-shreds-ashton-jeanty-jets-defense-you-are-horrible.html"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"'You are horrible': Rex Ryan rips into Ashton Jeanty after Raiders RB's Jets criticism","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/horrible-rex-ryan-rips-ashton-184123783.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"“Is This Kid a Joke”: Ex-Jets HC Blasts Ashton Jeanty on Live TV After Raiders RB’s Dig at New York","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/kid-joke-ex-jets-hc-184316962.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Raiders’ Ashton Jeanty eviscerated by Rex Ryan for calling out Jets players as soft","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/raiders-ashton-jeanty-eviscerated-rex-184459148.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Rex Ryan shreds Raiders’ Ashton Jeanty for comments on Jets’ defense: ‘You are horrible’","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rex-ryan-shreds-raiders-ashton-200012517.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Ashton Jeanty benched vs. Jets after talking trash during the week","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/ashton-jeanty-benched-vs-jets-202125085.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Rex Ryan rips Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty, who takes backseat role against Jets","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rex-ryan-rips-raiders-rb-201706932.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Rex Ryan justifiably called out Ashton Jeanty for his comments about the Jets defense","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rex-ryan-justifiably-called-ashton-203644469.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Ashton Jeanty posts embarrassing numbers after Rex Ryan blasts ‘worst draft pick in the last 20 years’","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/ashton-jeanty-posts-embarrassing-numbers-214313354.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Raiders coach Klint Kubiak vows Ashton Jeanty will remain a 'big part of our team' after RB gets 2 carries vs. Jets","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/breaking-news/article/raiders-coach-klint-kubiak-vows-ashton-jeanty-will-remain-a-big-part-of-our-team-after-rb-gets-2-carries-vs-jets-234943082.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Raiders coach Klint Kubiak vows that Ashton Jeanty will remain a 'big part of our team' after RB gets 2 carries vs. Jets","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/breaking-news/article/raiders-coach-klint-kubiak-vows-that-ashton-jeanty-will-remain-a-big-part-of-our-team-after-rb-gets-2-carries-vs-jets-000407165.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"After Jeanty's criticism, Glenn's Jets defense falls flat in second half of loss to Raiders","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jeantys-criticism-glenns-jets-defense-001014327.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Packers, Giants Presented With Intriguing Take on Raiders’ Ashton Jeanty","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/packers-giants-presented-intriguing-raiders-051515976.html"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
