Jerry Jones rules out firing Brian Schottenheimer after Cowboys collapse

Dallas blew a 14-0 lead and lost 33-30 in overtime to the Cardinals, dropping to 3-5, but the owner says a midseason coaching change is not on his mind.

The Cowboys squandered a 14-0 lead at home and fell 33-30 in overtime to the Cardinals, a collapse that matched the largest blown fourth-quarter lead in franchise history. Dallas is now 3-5, far from where the organization expected to be at this point in the season.

Afterward, owner Jerry Jones was asked directly whether he would make a midseason coaching change. He shut the idea down. "Again we're not going to get into anything, that's not in my mind at this time," Jones said, adding that the loss was "an indictment of the whole show" and "a criticism of everyone," rather than a reason to single out head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Jones noted he has made an in-season coaching change exactly once before, firing Wade Phillips in 2010 after a 1-7 start. "I'm not proud of it, but I made a change with Wade Phillips there in the middle of the season," Jones said. "I don't see that here at all."

For now, Schottenheimer stays in place as the Cowboys try to find answers before their record slips further.
