Minshew sparks Cardinals comeback, Arizona tops Cowboys 33-30 in OT

Arizona benched Jacoby Brissett down 17-3 and still found a way past Dallas in overtime.

The Cowboys looked comfortable early, building a 17-3 lead in Week 8. Then Arizona made a desperation move, pulling Jacoby Brissett near the end of the third quarter in favor of Gardner Minshew. The backup quarterback promptly flipped the game, leading four straight touchdown drives to drag the Cardinals level in regulation.

Arizona's kicker missed an extra point that would have won it outright in the fourth quarter, so the game went to overtime. From there the Cardinals' defense and running game did enough to set up a game-winning field goal, sealing a 33-30 win.

It continued a strange trend for Dallas against Arizona, a matchup described as one of the league's odder mysteries. The Cardinals are now 5-0 at AT&T Stadium all-time and have won nine of the last ten meetings in the series. Both teams sit at 3-5 on the season, and the Cowboys still have not won back-to-back games since last November.

Arizona did not escape unscathed. The Cardinals lost left tackle Jayden Williams to a knee injury, running back Jeremiyah Love to an ankle injury, running back Bam Knight to a concussion, and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne to an ankle injury. Wide receiver Reggie Virgil was also hurt after running into the goal post late in the fourth quarter.
