The 20-year-old Mercedes driver sealed the title with a third-place finish at the Mexico City Grand Prix, beating Sebastian Vettel's long-standing record.
Kimi Antonelli has won the Formula 1 World Championship, becoming the youngest driver ever to do so. He clinched the title at 20 years and 68 days old after finishing third at the Mexico City Grand Prix.
The achievement breaks the previous record held by Sebastian Vettel, who was 23 years and 133 days old when he won his first of four titles in 2010. Antonelli reached the summit in just his second full season in Formula 1, having made his debut at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix at age 18.
Mercedes handed the then 18-year-old rookie the seat vacated by Lewis Hamilton, a gamble that has now paid off in dramatic fashion. Antonelli's title also ends a 73-year wait for an Italian world champion.
His rapid rise, from teenage debutant to champion within two seasons, puts him ahead of several of the sport's other famous young winners and marks a new benchmark for how quickly a driver can reach the top of Formula 1.
