Buccaneers beat Falcons 16-0 without completing a single pass

Baker Mayfield went 0-for-3 through the air as Tampa Bay leaned on a 324-yard rushing day to blank Atlanta.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons 16-0 on Sunday without completing a single pass, the first team to pull that off since the 1974 Buffalo Bills. Baker Mayfield attempted just three passes, all in the first half, and all three fell incomplete in soaking, windy conditions at Raymond James Stadium.

Instead of throwing, Tampa Bay simply ran. Bucky Irving and Kenneth Gainwell both posted career highs on the ground as the Buccaneers piled up 324 rushing yards, grinding out the shutout while Mayfield barely touched the ball through the air.

The feat puts Tampa Bay in rare company. The 1974 Bills were the only other Super Bowl-era team to win without a completion, and that game saw both sides combine for eight completions total. The Buccaneers are also the first team to win by double digits without a completion since the 1945 Pittsburgh Steelers shut out the Chicago Cardinals 23-0.

The win moved Tampa Bay to 3-5 on the season, putting them back in the mix atop a crowded NFC South.
