Eagles will keep Saquon Barkley past the trade deadline

Philadelphia is holding onto its star running back despite a 2-5 start and a five-game losing streak.

Saquon Barkley is staying put. Despite weeks of speculation that the Eagles might sell off pieces ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo that Philadelphia will not move its star running back.

The decision comes as the Eagles sit at 2-5 and riding a five-game losing streak, a stretch that has put general manager Howie Roseman's roster decisions under a microscope. Philadelphia had been floated as a possible seller given the rough start, but the front office is apparently not ready to part with Barkley.

Barkley is expected to return for Sunday night's NFC East matchup against the Washington Commanders after missing time with hamstring and back injuries. The Eagles will be making that push without quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is sidelined for the remainder of the stretch.

For now, the message from the organization is clear: Barkley remains part of the plan, even as the losses pile up and questions about the team's direction continue.
