Undefeated Vikings head to Detroit to face the Lions in Week 8

Minnesota brings the NFL's stingiest defense to Ford Field to face a Lions offense averaging 30.7 points a game.

The Minnesota Vikings, sitting at 6-0 and holding the NFC's No. 1 seed, travel to Detroit on Sunday, Nov. 1 for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Ford Field against the Lions. It is a game stuffed with contrasts: Minnesota allows just 12.3 points per game, best in the league, while Detroit scores 30.7, second only to Buffalo.

The Vikings got here by grinding out a 16-10 win over Indianapolis in Week 7 and are 3-0 on the road, backed by a league-leading plus-7 turnover margin. Detroit, third in the NFC North, came out of its bye with a 20-17 win over Green Bay to open divisional play for 2026, though its own defense has been generous, giving up 27.5 points per game, and the Lions are 3-0 at home.

Lions coach Dan Campbell praised Minnesota's complementary style, crediting coordinator Brian Flores' defense as the engine behind Kevin O'Connell's team. The matchup pits Flores' blitz-heavy scheme against a Lions offense that has not seen a defense like it this season, while Minnesota has yet to face a scoring attack of Detroit's caliber. Something has to give.
