She pushed back hard, describing a 'cloak and dagger' campaign waged partly through the media to pressure her and undermine her position atop the team her father left behind.\n\nThe dispute centers on what rights Buss's siblings have to sell their stakes in the Lakers and how much say Jeanie, who controls the team, gets over any such sale. Each side has now accused the other of bad faith, with the family feud playing out increasingly in public court documents rather than behind closed doors.\n\nThere is no word yet on when a judge might rule on the competing claims, but the filings suggest the family rift over the Lakers' ownership structure is far from resolved.","published_at":"2026-10-31T22:18:02.771782+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Jeanie Buss claims siblings ‘secretly pursued unlawful action’ regarding Lakers sale","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7741790/2026/10/31/jeanie-buss-family-lakers-sale-siblings-court-filing/"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Jeanie Buss accuses siblings of conspiring against her as dispute over Lakers stake continues","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/jeanie-buss-lakers-sale-family-dispute/"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Jeanie Buss accuses siblings of 'cloak and dagger' tactics in Lakers' family saga","url":"https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/50337158/lakers-jeanie-buss-accuses-siblings-cloak-dagger-tactics"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Jeanie Buss accuses siblings of secret plot to oust her from Lakers","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/31/sports/jeanie-buss-siblings-secret-plot-lakers-sale/"}],"image":{"url":"https://static01.nyt.com/athletic/uploads/wp/2026/10/31134103/2025-02-11T062911Z_1634311628_MT1USATODAY25387053_RTRMADP_3_NBA-UTAH-JAZZ-AT-LOS-ANGELES-LAKERS-scaled.jpg","credit":"The Athletic","width":2560},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
