Jeanie Buss accuses siblings of secret plot over Lakers stake

In a new court filing, Buss says her brothers and sisters ran a 'cloak and dagger' media campaign while secretly pursuing unlawful action against her.

Jeanie Buss has escalated her legal fight with her own family, filing court papers that accuse her siblings of secretly pursuing unlawful action as part of their push to sell their shares in the Lakers.

The filing is Buss's response to her siblings' claims that she is acting out of self-interest in controlling the franchise. She pushed back hard, describing a 'cloak and dagger' campaign waged partly through the media to pressure her and undermine her position atop the team her father left behind.

The dispute centers on what rights Buss's siblings have to sell their stakes in the Lakers and how much say Jeanie, who controls the team, gets over any such sale. Each side has now accused the other of bad faith, with the family feud playing out increasingly in public court documents rather than behind closed doors.

There is no word yet on when a judge might rule on the competing claims, but the filings suggest the family rift over the Lakers' ownership structure is far from resolved.
