WNBA Finals come down to a first-ever Game 7

Golden State and Atlanta meet Saturday in San Francisco with the title on the line after trading blowouts all series.

The WNBA has never needed a Game 7 to decide its champion until now. Golden State and Atlanta meet Saturday night in San Francisco for the whole thing, the finish to a series that has refused to follow a pattern.

The Valkyries took Game 1, then the Dream answered by winning Games 2 and 3 in dominant fashion. Golden State regrouped to take Games 4 and 5, only for Atlanta to come right back and win Game 6 convincingly. Neither team has strung together a steady run of form, which is part of why this one is being treated as a true toss-up heading in.

That uncertainty shows up in the betting markets, too. The opening moneyline gave Atlanta a slight edge, but the number has since evened out, with the two sides now priced the same at BetMGM. Whichever team wins Saturday claims its first WNBA title, on Halloween, in a game neither franchise has ever had to play before.
