Five-star wing DeMarcus Henry commits to North Carolina

The Charlotte native, ranked among the top players in the 2027 class, picked the Tar Heels over Arkansas, Louisville and Kentucky.

DeMarcus Henry, a 6-foot-7 small forward out of Compass Prep in Arizona, announced his commitment to North Carolina on NBA Today. He chose the Tar Heels over a list that included Arkansas, Louisville and Kentucky.

Henry is considered one of the top prospects in the 2027 class, landing at No. 3 overall on the Rivals Industry Ranking, which averages the rankings from Rivals, ESPN and 247Sports. Rivals itself has him even higher, at No. 2 nationally, while ESPN also lists him as the No. 2 overall recruit in the class. 247Sports has him at No. 4.

Henry grew up in Charlotte and is the son of the late Chris Henry, who played wide receiver in the NFL. He has previously spoken about getting to know the North Carolina coaching staff during the recruiting process.

The commitment gives North Carolina its highest ranked recruit since 2019, a notable building block for a program looking to keep pace in a crowded and talented 2027 recruiting class.
