Florida turns back to Philo for Georgia rivalry game

The junior quarterback returns from a shoulder injury to start over Tramell Jones Jr. against No. 3 Georgia.

Florida is handing the keys back to Aaron Philo for Saturday's rivalry game against No. 3 Georgia. The junior quarterback had been sidelined by a shoulder injury and missed the Oct. 17 game against Texas, but he has taken first-team reps in practice this week and will start despite still dealing with the injury.

Jones Jr. isn't walking away empty-handed in terms of recent form. In Philo's absence, he led the Gators past Texas, throwing for 155 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding 41 rushing yards on 10 carries. Jones is also nursing an injury of his own, according to reports.

The No. 17 Gators will try to snap a five-game losing streak in the series when they face Georgia in Atlanta. The decision to go back to Philo over a quarterback coming off a win against a ranked Texas team signals Florida's staff sees something in Philo's health and fit that outweighs Jones's recent production. Kickoff details and further injury updates were not specified.
