The matchup itself is not expected to be close based on recent history, with the Irish having won their last three meetings with Navy by an average of more than 38 points.\n\nThe bigger storyline is what comes after. ESPN's Heather Dinich, in her latest College Football Playoff bubble watch, said Notre Dame would still be in playoff position if it beats top-ranked Miami on Nov. 7. But if the Irish lose that game and finish the season with two losses, there is no guarantee they make the field.\n\nPart of the problem is scheduling. Notre Dame's strength of schedule currently ranks No. 41, and Dinich noted it might not improve much the rest of the way. That makes Navy look like a tune-up, but the Miami game looms as the one that actually decides whether this season ends in the playoff or on the outside looking in.","published_at":"2026-10-30T22:50:35.094986+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Notre Dame vs. Navy prediction, odds, time: Week 9 college football picks from proven model","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/betting/news/notre-dame-navy-prediction-odds-time-2026-week-9-college-football-picks/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Is Notre Dame on CFP bubble watch ahead of Week 9 vs. Navy","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/notre-dame-cfp-bubble-watch-163824173.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Notre Dame vs. Navy predictions: How will Irish look with two weeks to stew on BYU?","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7737527/2026/10/30/notre-dame-navy-predictions-matchup/"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"2026 College Football Week 9: Best Games To Watch This Weekend","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/2026-college-football-week-9-best-games-watch-weekend"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Notre Dame vs Navy Game Predictions","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/notre-dame-vs-navy-game-230420848.html"}],"image":null,"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
