Before landing in Lincoln, he started for Virginia and UNLV, making this the latest stop in a well-traveled college career that will now end where it currently stands.\n\nCoach Matt Rhule had publicly pushed back against SEC programs he accused of trying to poach his roster, and keeping Colandrea in the fold counts as an early win in that fight. Retaining a proven starting quarterback before the portal opens gives Nebraska a measure of stability other programs will be scrambling to match.\n\nThe move signals that Rhule is prioritizing continuity at the position as he builds out the rest of his roster for the coming seasons.","published_at":"2026-10-30T22:05:00.494376+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Anthony Colandrea re-signs with Nebraska: Huskers QB commits for 2027 after Matt Rhule calls out SEC poachers","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/anthony-colandrea-nebraska-return-2027-season-sec-poaching/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"QB Anthony Colandrea reportedly signs deal to return to Nebraska in 2027, stay put for final year of eligibility","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/breaking-news/article/qb-anthony-colandrea-reportedly-signs-deal-to-return-to-nebraska-in-2027-stay-put-for-final-year-of-eligibility-153735214.html"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"QB Colandrea returning to Nebraska for 2027 season, agent says","url":"https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/50327701/nebraska-qb-anthony-colandrea-re-signs-2027-season"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Five-star QB reaffirms commitment to Nebraska football as Anthony Colandrea re-signs","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/five-star-qb-reaffirms-commitment-171112350.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Nebraska QB Anthony Colandrea agrees to return for 2027 season","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7739165/2026/10/30/anthony-colandrea-nebraska-matt-rhule-2027-season/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Nebraska quarterback signs deal to return for the 2027 season","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/nebraska-quarterback-signs-deal-return-193202237.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Nebraska QB Anthony Colandrea signs deal to return for a 5th and final season","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/nebraska-qb-anthony-colandrea-signs-201114680.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Nebraska’s Anthony Colandrea makes official decision amid transfer portal interest","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/nebraska-anthony-colandrea-makes-official-212912623.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://sportshub.cbsistatic.com/i/2026/10/30/3e4d1cd0-54e9-41c0-8fe4-7aeefb71445a/anthohy.png","credit":"CBS Sports","width":1920},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
