According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Hardy will not start but will receive a \"handful of carries\" after returning to practice this week.\n\nHardy was arguably the best running back in the country last season, leading the SEC with 1,649 rushing yards while averaging 6.4 yards per carry. He finished second in the conference with 16 rushing touchdowns and earned consensus All-American honors along with a spot on the All-SEC First Team.\n\nMissouri has managed fine without him, going 5-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play this season. Jamal Roberts has filled the void at running back and currently leads the SEC in the category Hardy once dominated.\n\nNow Hardy returns to a backfield that has moved on without him, with the Tigers looking to add his talent back into the mix as they continue their conference schedule against Arkansas.","published_at":"2026-10-29T22:47:52.137548+00:00","source_count":5,"written_from":[{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"All-American Ahmad Hardy making Missouri return months after getting shot","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/29/sports/ahmad-hardy-making-missouri-return-months-after-getting-shot/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Missouri RB Ahmad Hardy to make return vs. Arkansas","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/missouri-rb-ahmad-hardy-return-213551000.html"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Sources: Missouri RB Hardy to make season debut vs. Arkansas","url":"https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/50321651/sources-missouri-rb-hardy-make-season-debut-vs-arkansas"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Ahmad Hardy status on official Missouri football injury report Oct. 28","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/ahmad-hardy-status-official-missouri-001619548.html"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Ahmad Hardy returning for Missouri: Star RB set for season debut after recovering from gunshot wound","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/ahmad-hardy-missouri-debut-2026-injury-gunshot-wound-arkansas/"},{"outlet":"Fox Sports","publisher":"Fox Sports","title":"Missouri RB Ahmad Hardy Set To Make Season Debut Against Arkansas","url":"https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/missouri-ahmad-hardy-season-debut-arkansas"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Missouri football’s Ahmad Hardy expected to make season debut at Arkansas","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/missouri-football-ahmad-hardy-expected-002317675.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://nypost.com/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2026%2F10%2FGettyImages-2253186984.jpg?w%3D1024","credit":"New York Post","width":4000},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
