The No. 9 overall 2027 prospect chose Will Wade's Tigers over Louisville, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wichita State.
Reese Alston, the five-star point guard everyone from Louisville to Kentucky wanted, picked LSU instead. The Class of 2027 commitment landed Oct. 29, and it's a notable win for Will Wade, who beat out the Cardinals, Wildcats, Tennessee and Wichita State for his signature.
Alston is the son of streetball legend and former NBA veteran Rafer "Skip 2 My Lou" Alston, and the ball-handling genes clearly carried over. The 6-foot-2 guard out of Second Baptist High School in Houston ranks ninth overall in his cycle on the 247Sports Composite and picked up first-team MaxPreps Junior All-America honors.
Asked why LSU, Alston pointed to his relationship with Wade. "The trust I have in coach Wade," he told 247Sports. "I'm not even his player yet — we've known each other for, like, a couple of months — but we've been through so much already. He's stuck by my side."
The commitment gives Wade his third top-25 recruit in the 2027 class and his first five-star since returning to LSU, rounding out a recruiting class that's quickly taking shape in Baton Rouge.
