Colorado QB Julian Lewis hospitalized after medical emergency

The sophomore, who started the season before being benched, fell ill Wednesday at the team facility and was taken to the hospital.

Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis was hospitalized Wednesday after experiencing a medical emergency at the team facility, his father announced Thursday. No details have been released about his condition, and the team has not commented publicly on the nature of the issue.

Lewis, 19, arrived at Colorado as a five-star recruit and one of the top-10 high school quarterbacks in his class. He spent much of his first season as a backup before winning the starting job to begin this year. He was later benched during the season and had been working outside the starting role at the time of the emergency.

His family's announcement came a day after he was taken to the hospital, and updates on his status have been limited so far. The Buffaloes program has not indicated when or whether further information will be shared about Lewis' health.
