Manager Pat Murphy told outfielder Jake Bauers to remember Milwaukee's team-first approach if he ever lands with the Yankees.
The Milwaukee Brewers' World Series celebration included a pointed message from manager Pat Murphy to outfielder Jake Bauers, after Bauers handed him the ball from the final out.
Murphy told Bauers, "You're gonna be a rich (expletive). Just remember when you're on that horse (expletive) Yankee team and you're all playing for yourselves ... just remember this is the way we used to do it."
The exchange quickly went viral, framed by some as a tidy encapsulation of the Brewers' run: a tight-knit roster built without the payroll muscle of baseball's biggest spenders, winning it all anyway. Bauers signed a one-year, $3.7M deal with the Brewers for 2026 and will be a free agent after that, meaning this moment could be his last in a Milwaukee uniform.
Whether Bauers ever actually ends up in pinstripes remains to be seen. For now, the title belongs to Milwaukee, and so does the trash talk.
