Rams rule out Garrett and Ferguson for Chargers game

Sean McVay says neither player will return to practice this week, keeping them out against Los Angeles on Sunday.

The Rams will be without pass rusher Myles Garrett and tight end Terrance Ferguson for at least another week. Coach Sean McVay told reporters Wednesday that the team will not start the practice window clock for either player this week, which rules them out of Sunday's game against the Chargers.

Garrett has been sidelined since having knee surgery following the team's Week 1 loss to the 49ers. The Rams never put a firm number on his recovery, though Ian Rapoport of NFL Network had reported a six-week timeline. That window has long since passed, and this will mark Garrett's seventh missed game. McVay acknowledged the obvious, saying he knows the slow recovery is frustrating.

Ferguson has been out with an ankle issue and will also sit out at least one more game. A report last week suggested Garrett was trending toward returning to practice, but that turned out to be premature. For now, the Rams are left waiting on updates for both players with no new timetable given.
