Doncic sidelined for Lakers-Clippers with back tightness

The NBA's scoring leader sits out the second night of a back-to-back after a 41-point effort in a loss to Portland.

Luka Doncic is out against the Clippers on Wednesday with back tightness, the Lakers announced, leaving the team without its leading scorer on the second night of a back-to-back.

Doncic poured in 41 points, five rebounds and nine assists in Tuesday's 136-129 loss to the Trail Blazers, but the quick turnaround has him on the sidelines for the matchup with Los Angeles' crosstown rivals.

He is not alone. Starter Ziaire Williams is also out with left foot soreness. Cameron Carr remains sidelined with a right oblique strain, and Adou Thiero is unavailable as the team manages a left knee injury. That leaves Los Angeles thin heading into a divisional game.

The Clippers have their own issues, with Rui Hachimura out due to a quad injury. With both teams missing key pieces, Wednesday's game becomes more of a depth test than a showcase of star power.
