A source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that the Colts wide receiver is requesting a trade as the team presses ahead with what looks like a full rebuild. Downs himself kept it simple, telling reporters he is \"open to whatever.\"\n\nThe move follows a busy Tuesday in which the Colts dealt Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks and defensive lineman DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers. Franchise running back Jonathan Taylor has also been the subject of trade chatter, though head coach Shane Steichen said Taylor has not requested a trade himself.\n\nDowns, a third-round pick in 2023, showed real promise in his first two seasons, catching 140 passes for 1,574 yards and seven touchdowns across 31 games. His role shrank over the past two years, and he finished 2025 with career lows in targets, catches and receiving yards. He is in the final year of his rookie contract and is reportedly drawing interest from other teams, with the Kansas City Chiefs among those mentioned as possible suitors. The Colts have until the NFL trade deadline to decide whether to move him.","published_at":"2026-10-28T21:48:43.212133+00:00","source_count":8,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Best Fantasy Football Landing Spots For Josh Downs After Reported Trade Request","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/best-fantasy-football-landing-spots-202657735.html"},{"outlet":"The Athletic","publisher":"The Athletic","title":"Colts WR Josh Downs on trade rumors: 'I'm open to whatever'","url":"https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7732720/2026/10/28/colts-josh-downs-trade-rumors/"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Josh Downs requests trade from reeling Colts as season crumbles","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/28/sports/josh-downs-requests-trade-from-reeling-colts/"},{"outlet":"SB Nation","publisher":"SB Nation","title":"Josh Downs trade rumors: 5 teams who could be interested in Colts WR after demand","url":"https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/1134074/josh-downs-trade-rumors-suitors-falcons-steelers-commanders-chiefs"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Source: Colts WR Downs requests trade; RB Taylor hasn't, per Steichen","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50309159/source-wr-downs-requests-trade-rb-taylor-per-coach"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Josh Downs requests trade: Colts WR reportedly asks out as Indy continues fire sale","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/colts-josh-downs-request-trade-landing-spots/"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Report: Colts WR Josh Downs requests a trade","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-colts-wr-josh-downs-requests-a-trade"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Colts WR Josh Downs mentioned as trade candidate","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/colts-wr-josh-downs-mentioned-214545788.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Fantasy Football Impact: 4 Potential Josh Downs Landing Spots","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/fantasy-football-impact-4-potential-223027029.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"‘Reunite Him With Drake Maye,’ ‘Awful Idea’ – NFL Fans React As Colts Reportedly Make WR Josh Downs Available for Trade","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/reunite-him-drake-maye-awful-233042369.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"NFL rumors: Chiefs put on Josh Downs trade watch with Colts’ fire sale fully underway","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/nfl-rumors-chiefs-put-josh-003102995.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Patriots Connected to Colts WR in Trade Rumors Ahead of Deadline","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/patriots-connected-colts-wr-trade-045146817.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Bengals News: Colts’ Josh Downs could make sense as Cincinnati trade target","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/bengals-news-colts-josh-downs-100000969.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Should the Raiders trade for Colts WR Josh Downs?","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/raiders-trade-colts-wr-josh-130206149.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Colts WR Josh Downs addresses trade speculation","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/colts-wr-josh-downs-addresses-161914632.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Report: Colts WR Josh Downs requests trade","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/report-colts-wr-josh-downs-162658037.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Colts player asks for trade amid fire sale","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/colts-player-asks-trade-amid-164700215.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Colts WR Josh Downs requests trade as Indianapolis rebuild accelerates","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/colts-wr-josh-downs-requests-170323119.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Colts WR Josh Downs requests trade as Indianapolis rebuild accelerates","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/colts-wr-josh-downs-requests-170323467.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Josh Downs trade rumors: 5 teams who could be interested in Colts WR after demand","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/josh-downs-trade-rumors-5-171751504.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"WR Josh Downs wants a trade from the Colts.
