Sergio Perez extends with Cadillac F1 through at least 2029

The new deal lands as Perez prepares to make his 300th Grand Prix start at his home race in Mexico City.

Sergio Perez has signed a contract extension with Cadillac that keeps him at the American outfit until at least 2029. The announcement came on Wednesday, timed to his 300th Grand Prix start, which takes place in front of his home crowd at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Perez joined Cadillac for its 2026 debut after losing his Red Bull seat left him without a drive last year. The team's first season in Formula 1 has been inconsistent, but Perez has found his best form this year, comparing favourably to veteran team-mate Valtteri Bottas.

The 36-year-old Mexican has been a hands-on presence at Cadillac from the start and has built a strong relationship with team CEO Dan Towriss and General Motors chief Mark Reuss. That relationship, along with confidence in the project's future direction, convinced him to commit for another three seasons at minimum.

A team statement said the extension reflects a shared long-term ambition between the six-time Grand Prix winner and Cadillac to build a competitive outfit at the top of the sport. Perez called joining the project from day one something he truly believed in, and said extending his commitment felt like a natural next step in that chapter.
