Butker has converted just 11 of 16 field goal attempts this season and also missed a PAT attempt. He went 1-for-3 in Sunday night's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, missing a 58-yard try among the misses.\n\nAndy Reid made clear the move is not a benching, at least not yet. \"We love Harrison,\" Reid said. \"He's one of my favorite guys. Sometimes things don't go quite the way you want them, and you work on that. He understands the business and how it works. He's struggled a little bit.\" Reid added that Butker will get most of the reps in practice this week and that the kicking situation remains fluid.\n\nDespite the signing, Butker is still expected to handle kicking duties for Kansas City's upcoming game against the Broncos, with Tucker staying on the practice squad for now. The former Ravens kicker gives the Chiefs an experienced option waiting in the wings if Butker's slump continues.","published_at":"2026-10-28T21:48:43.212133+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"As Harrison Butker struggles, KC signs Justin Tucker to practice squad","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/harrison-butker-struggles-kc-signs-183916667.html"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Harrison Butker will \"probably\" kick for the Chiefs this week","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/harrison-butker-will-probably-kick-for-the-chiefs-this-week"},{"outlet":"Defector","publisher":"Defector","title":"Unsatisfied With Employing Just One Evil Kicker, Chiefs Sign Justin Tucker","url":"https://defector.com/unsatisfied-with-employing-just-one-evil-kicker-chiefs-sign-justin-tucker"},{"outlet":"SB Nation","publisher":"SB Nation","title":"Chiefs sign Justin Tucker to practice squad as Harrison Butker struggles","url":"https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/1134022/chiefs-sign-justin-tucker-to-practice-squad-as-harrison-butker-struggles"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Harrison Butker Addresses His Dismal Start to Chiefs Season as Coach Andy Reid Says He Needs to ‘Fix It’","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/harrison-butker-addresses-dismal-start-213338562.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Chiefs News: Harrison Butker may have competition amid struggles","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/chiefs-news-harrison-butker-may-103000176.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Chiefs signing disgraced kicker Justin Tucker puts Harrison Butker on notice","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/chiefs-signing-disgraced-kicker-justin-142453943.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Will Chiefs cut Harrison Butker after Justin Tucker signing?","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/chiefs-cut-harrison-butker-justin-145602339.html"}],"image":{"url":"https://nbcsports.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/efaf5ef/2147483647/strip/false/crop/1920x1080+0+0/resize/1920x1080!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhdliveextra-a.akamaihd.net%2FHD%2Fimage_sports%2FNBCU_Sports_Group_-_nbcsports%2F860%2F231%2Fnbc_pft_justin_tucker_261028.jpg","credit":"Pro Football Talk","width":1920},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
