Kirkpatrick was charged with harassing communications and doxing tied to a police officer from his 2025 arrest.
Alabama has cut ties with defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. The Crimson Tide suspended him right before Saturday's 31-20 win over Texas A&M for violating team rules, without specifying why at the time.
The reason became clear Monday, when it was reported that Kirkpatrick had been arrested Friday on two misdemeanor charges: harassing communications and doxing. The charges stem from allegedly threatening communications directed at a police officer who had been involved in his arrest in 2025.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer dismissed Kirkpatrick from the program on Tuesday, saying the move came after the staff gathered more information on the situation. Kirkpatrick is no longer with the team.
The incident adds to a week of distraction for Alabama, which is currently on its bye. The school has not detailed further disciplinary or legal steps beyond the dismissal.
