The five-time World Series champion said even spring training visits leave him feeling unwanted by the organization.
Jorge Posada says the Yankees have quietly shut him out, and he is done pretending otherwise. Speaking on "The Show" podcast with Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman, the former catcher and Core Four member was asked whether he could step in to help a team that some feel lacks a strong internal voice beyond manager Aaron Boone.
His answer was blunt. "It's gotta be the right — I mean, I could, but I don't think they want me there to tell you the truth," Posada said. He added that the feeling persists even during spring training, saying, "I don't feel welcome when I go there, you know? Even in spring training, I don't feel like — I'm just like, I don't know, like, I don't feel welcome. I don't feel like they want me there, so I don't go."
Posada won five World Series titles in pinstripes and remains one of the most recognizable names from the Yankees' Core Four era. His comments raise fresh questions about how the organization treats its own championship alumni, even as the team continues to lean on its historic brand.
