GM Joe Schoen confirmed the move as the team entered its bye week.\n\nTracy suffered the hamstring injury on a 7-yard run with 5:29 left in the second quarter against the Houston Texans. He had been playing well in an expanded role that day, scoring a touchdown and later helping set up a Jameis Winston touchdown on the run during which he got hurt.\n\nThe injury is not considered long term, but Tracy is expected to miss the next four weeks. As a corresponding move, the Giants signed running back Greg Derosiers Jr. off the Chargers practice squad. New York also added veteran defensive lineman Dean Lowry to its own practice squad.\n\nThe Giants will use the bye to regroup before continuing a schedule that includes the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders, leaning on their revamped backfield depth until Tracy returns.","published_at":"2026-10-27T21:48:13.498377+00:00","source_count":4,"written_from":[{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Tyrone Tracy goes on IR as Giants’ running back churn continues","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/27/sports/tyrone-tracy-goes-on-ir-as-giants-running-back-churn-continues/"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Giants roster moves: RB Tyrone Tracy to IR, RB Greg Derosiers signed","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/giants-roster-moves-rb-tyrone-184731402.html"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Tyrone Tracy headed to IR with hamstring injury","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/tyrone-tracy-headed-to-ir-with-hamstring-injury"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Giants place Tyrone Tracy on IR with hamstring injury","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/giants-place-tyrone-tracy-ir-180224348.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Giants place Tyrone Tracy Jr. on IR, sign Greg Desrosiers from Chargers' practice squad","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/giants-place-tyrone-tracy-jr-180113928.html"},{"outlet":"ESPN","publisher":"ESPN","title":"Giants placing Tracy on IR; Singletary likely to get more work","url":"https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/50300226/giants-place-rb-tyrone-tracy-ir-hamstring-injury"}],"image":{"url":"https://nypost.com/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2026%2F10%2Fnew-york-giants-running-back-146460529.jpg?w%3D1024","credit":"New York Post","width":3934},"embed":null,"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","attribution":"Analysis data is licensed CC BY 4.0.
