Speaking Tuesday on Dallas station 105.3 The Fan, the Cowboys owner said it's \"very possible\" Aikman could take on a significant role with the organization, adding the team \"could and would\" be open to it.\n\nThe comments come a day after Jones and Aikman had an on-field conversation, reportedly lasting about 10 minutes, at Lincoln Financial Field before the Cowboys' win over the Eagles on Monday night. It also follows remarks Jones made last Wednesday at the conclusion of an NFL owners meeting in New York, where he said he was following Aikman's situation.\n\nAikman's contract with ESPN runs out at the end of the season, and his broadcast future is uncertain. He was reportedly caught off guard when his longtime partner Joe Buck quietly signed a long-term extension with ESPN months ago, as the two were expected to enter the final year of their deals together. Aikman has said he would \"have a hard time not taking a good look\" at a chance to work for the franchise that drafted him first overall in 1989 and with whom he won three Super Bowls. He has also worked as a consultant for the Dolphins.","published_at":"2026-10-27T21:48:13.498377+00:00","source_count":6,"written_from":[{"outlet":"Awful Announcing","publisher":"Awful Announcing","title":"Jerry Jones insists Troy Aikman holding significant role with Cowboys is ‘very possible’","url":"https://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/jerry-jones-troy-aikman-role-cowboys.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Jerry Jones insists Troy Aikman holding significant role with Cowboys is ‘very possible’","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/jerry-jones-insists-troy-aikman-212055085.html"},{"outlet":"New York Post","publisher":"New York Post","title":"Jerry Jones: ‘Very possible’ Troy Aikman joins Cowboys front office","url":"https://nypost.com/2026/10/27/sports/very-possible-troy-aikman-joins-cowboys-front-office-jerry-jones-says/"},{"outlet":"Front Office Sports","publisher":"Front Office Sports","title":"Jerry Jones Says Cowboys ‘Could and Would’ Hire Troy Aikman","url":"https://frontofficesports.com/article/jerry-jones-says-cowboys-could-and-would-hire-troy-aikman/"},{"outlet":"CBS Sports","publisher":"CBS Sports","title":"Jerry Jones on a possible role for Troy Aikman with the Cowboys: 'Don't rule it out'","url":"https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jerry-jones-on-possible-role-for-troy-aikman-with-cowboys-dont-rule-it-out/"},{"outlet":"Pro Football Talk","publisher":"NBC Sports","title":"Jerry Jones: Troy Aikman working for Cowboys in future is \"very possible\"","url":"https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jerry-jones-troy-aikman-working-for-cowboys-in-future-is-very-possible"}],"more_coverage":[{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Troy Aikman admitted that this could be the final year of his broadcasting career","url":"https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/troy-aikman-admitted-could-final-164434224.html"},{"outlet":"Yahoo Sports","publisher":"Yahoo Sports","title":"Is Troy Aikman Leaving ESPN?
